I honestly don’t understand how a McDonald’s like this is still operating. Located in Fishtown, just a short distance from Center City Philadelphia, you would expect at least a basic level of cleanliness, food quality, and customer service. Instead, this place is an absolute embarrassment.
I’ve been here multiple times, and the situation is consistently terrible. The dining area is filthy, food is scattered all over the floor, employees walk through it, and everything feels sticky and dirty. Basic cleanliness seems to be completely neglected. Where are the health inspectors? How does a restaurant like this continue operating without someone stepping in and addressing these problems?
What I witnessed today was particularly disturbing. An employee dropped one of the plastic baskets used to assemble Happy Meals directly onto the filthy floor. She simply picked it up and continued putting food into it as if nothing had happened. No washing, no sanitizing, nothing. Happy Meals are primarily marketed toward children, yet this is apparently the standard of hygiene being followed when preparing their food. That basket had just been on a dirty floor, and the employee proceeded to use it to prepare a child’s meal. How is this acceptable? This incident alone raises serious concerns about the food safety practices at this location.
And the service is just as bad. Even during off-peak hours, when there are barely any customers inside, ordering something as simple as a medium fries and a bottle of water can mean waiting 20–30 minutes. The employees seem completely oblivious to the orders waiting to be prepared, even when there are only one or two items to put together. You can literally stand there watching your order sit untouched while nobody seems to care.
When your food finally arrives, the fries are often only half-filled, and the food itself is consistently disappointing — sometimes overcooked, sometimes undercooked, and sometimes seemingly not fresh at all.
This isn’t about expecting a five-star dining experience from McDonald’s. It’s about expecting the bare minimum: a clean restaurant, safe food, properly prepared orders, and reasonably competent service.
I genuinely don’t understand how management allows this place to operate this way. This location desperately needs serious management intervention, proper employee training, and a complete overhaul of its cleaning, food safety, and service standards. The fact that an employee can pick up a food basket from a filthy floor and immediately use it to prepare a child’s meal is absolutely unacceptable.
How has this location been allowed to reach this standard? Someone needs to take a serious look at what is happening here, because this is not just poor customer service anymore. It is a serious concern about basic hygiene and food safety. Something needs to change.
